Is it just me, or was last Sunday at the UU Congregation of Charlottesville something special? We had over 180 in attendance (both in person and online) at the worship service and the Service Fair was buzzing with energy and enthusiasm. What a fabulous way to begin a new church year and I can’t wait to see where the coming year will take us!
Speaking of energy and enthusiasm, the Board of Trustees held their annual retreat last Saturday and I feel so blessed to be working alongside such a wise and visionary group of leaders. We spent time orienting new board members, reviewed our developmental goals, learned about a framework for organizing congregational social action, and imagining what UUCville might look like in 3-5 years. I can’t begin to summarize all that took place at the retreat but suffice it to say that the Board is thinking and dreaming big for this church year and beyond!
As wonderful as all our dreams and visions for the future are, the most important thing I feel at UUCville right now is love and positivity. So many people are coming through our doors and connecting with us online because they are experiencing warmth, community, and love. We are turning our mission of “building community through love in action” into a reality and although there is so much more we can and must do, we are off to a great start.
I hope to see many of you this weekend at the events and programs that are happening, including the Rivanna river clean-up at Meadow Creek, CVille Sabroso, Cville Pride, and so much more. UUCville is getting involved, living our values, and making a difference. We are so blessed to be sharing our faith, our passion, and our lives with this beloved community. Together, we are putting love into action!!!
