THANKSGIVING – How YOU Can Be Involved

Our church offers many possibilities to share the generous spirit of Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving Meal at TJMC-Unitarian Universalist

We celebrate Thanksgiving here among friends in an open invitation potluck event on Thanksgiving day. That invitation will be in your Friday email closer to November 28th.

There are two “share the bounty” opportunities as well:

Ebenezer Thanksgiving Feast Baskets

Several congregations around town pool their collection of Basket ingredients and deliver them to Ebenezer Baptist Church the week before Thanksgiving (November 18th). In the past Ebenezer led the community wide event, using lists provided by the school counselors. They have decided to scale back because others were doing the work. Nonetheless, Ebenezer is already receiving requests for help. We have their back. There will be a table in the Social Hall each Sunday from now until November 17 to receive any of the following donations for the feast baskets:

Fruits and Veggies for Our Congregation

In our work together we are mindful of the need that exists within our own congregation.

The additional expense of creating a meal for the holiday can bring stress to many families.

It is the TJMC-Unitarian Universalist tradition to bring fresh fruits and vegetable to donate to those in our congregation who could use the extra help. We seem to have a common passion for fresh fruits and vegetables for our Thanksgiving meal, so you will feel good knowing you are meeting this important need over the holiday of gratitude.

Please bring fresh fruits and vegetables that are treats such as: okra, brussel sprouts, beans, squash, pumpkin, onions, real carrots, cranberries, fall fruits of amazing variety, whatever’s fresh, whatever sounds delicious to you…
Your family is invited to add your offering to the alter on SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 24th.

Those who wish to accept a bit of the bounty will share it amongst themselves after the service.

This is one of those events where our giving AND receiving is alive.
