Yes, UUCville, we have an Endowment Fund!
A gift to the UUCville Endowment Fund is a gift to future generations, one that can provide a sound financial base for the congregation for years to come. It is a legacy gift, one that speaks to how meaningful UUCville is in our lives and a desire for following generations to have the opportunity to experience a beloved UU congregation.
What is an Endowment Fund?
An endowment is gifted funding where the original monetary donation and the earnings from investments can only be spent following the terms and conditions of the endowment fund. This restriction aims to invest the money to provide long-term support for our congregation and our ministries.
The UUCville Endowment Fund was created in 1985 and as of July 31, 2023, the balance in the fund is $496,344. The UUCville Endowment is invested in the UU Common Endowment Fund with the UUA. Investing with the UUA fund ensures that our investments align with UU values.
Per the UUCville By-Laws, each year up to 5% of the endowment fund’s market value may be used for (1) capital expenditures for the maintenance of the physical facilities for all properties owned or controlled by UUCville and beyond normal budget allocations, (2) major capital equipment purchases; and/or (3) extraordinary expenses beyond those in the normal operating budget, including debt reduction.

Contributions to the Endowment Fund can be made through Planned Giving, such as:

Insurance Policy Beneficiaries
Wills
Gifting Stock
Speak with your financial advisor or estate planner for guidance if you are considering a gift to the Endowment Fund through Legacy Giving.
Anyone can donate to the Endowment Fund. One-time donations are made in honor of someone, often in memory of a member of our congregation. Donations can be made at any time, online via Breeze (make sure you select: “Give to UUCville Endowment Fund Donation 2132”) or via check. If donating by check, please note the “Endowment Fund” on the check.
