Rev. Susan Karlson

Rev. Susan Karlson first joined UUCville in 1996 and quickly became involved in many facets of this congregation’s leadership. She attended Wesley Seminary in Washington D.C. and commuted back and forth between D.C. and Charlottesville every week for three years with one more year as an intern in Annapolis, MD. Susan was fellowshipped in 2003 as a Unitarian Universalist minister and served congregations in Wilmington, NC, Gulfport, MS, Staten Island, NY, Savannah, GA and Venice, FL.  She is still an active volunteer responder in the Unitarian Universalist Trauma Response Ministry (UUTRM) and served as a Hospice Chaplain. She was co-chair of the New York City New Sanctuary Coalition and Co-Chair of the Metro NY Antiracism and Diversity Committee.

Susan and her spouse, Alan Kindler, returned to the Charlottesville area on September 1, 2022 with their two beguiling cats, Lolly and Morpheus. Susan loves gardening, reading, writing and travel. They have two adult daughters in the area, one in Washington state and another in Spain. Susan is glad to be back at UUCville and to serve the congregation as part-time Sabbatical Minister for Faith Development during Rev. Leia’s sabbatical.
