January Social Action Collection: PACEM

PACEM is a grassroots organization in our region that works with 80 local congregations and community groups and 3,000 volunteers to provide shelter and related services to the homeless. The name is the Latin word for “peace” and also an acronym for “People And Congregations Engaged in Ministry.” Each night during winter, PACEM provides a warm, welcoming, and safe shelter for some of the most vulnerable members of our community. UUCville hosts PACEM each year. Throughout the year, PACEM provides meals and companionship. The organization assists many people in moving forward into permanent housing through intensive case management. UUCville has a longtime relationship supporting PACEM.

PACEM is currently operating their 19th season of emergency shelter (serving 25-30 individuals a night) while still providing shelter at 405 Premier Circle to more than 50 medically vulnerable guests.
