Our New Name

At our annual meeting, our congregation voted to choose a new name for our faith community!

The new name, chosen by our members, is Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Charlottesville.

This motion was brought to the congregational meeting by the Board-appointed New Name Taskforce, which helped create an inclusive and democratic process for considering our new name. This is the culmination of many years of conversations about changing our name, and there are many leaders and members in our congregation who deserve our thanks for helping us have these important conversations in a way that allowed everyone to be heard. We are so grateful for all who have offered their creativity and curiosity, have shared their thoughts, and have listened to each other to better understand.

The vote today was weighted, so people were able to rank their preference of the three options. The breakdown was:

Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Charlottesville 51 votes(50.5%)

Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Charlottesville 9 votes(8.9%)

Unitarian Universalists of Charlottesville 41 votes(40.6%)
