David has been drawn to the natural world since he was a little boy exploring the wilds of the Delaware seashore and creek bottoms of Kentucky. He started photographing birds in college with his dad’s old (film) Nikon, which accompanied him on his first far flung adventure to the north slope of Alaska on a work assignment for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. David’s photography journey took a serious turn with his first digital camera and taking inspiration from fellow wildlife photographers he worked with over a series of expedition cruises to the Antarctic.
Photos in this series include bird and wildlife portraits and landscapes from David’s journeys far and wide (Falkland Islands, South Georgia island, Tanzania, Alaska, Florida, Michigan) and closer to home here in Virginia.
