Leia’s Letter to Families

September 9, 2021

Dear Families:

Warm greetings to you!

Our children and youth faith development programming is about to start.  It has been a long time since I have seen many of you.  I am looking forward to gathering with you outside with our face masks on soon!

Starting Sunday September 19:

-Our younger UUs (children through 4th grade) will meet on the playground at church from 9:30-10:30AM.  We’ll explore the congregation-wide monthly ministry themes through stories, rituals, activities, and play.  We are doing some improvements to the playground to make it even more inviting.

-Our 5th, 6th & 7th grade youth will meet on the southwest side of Summit House from 9:30-10:30AM for fellowship, fun, and to explore living our UU faith every day.  We will have lawn games, field trips and more!  Come and make some new friends.

-Our 8th & 9th grade youth are meeting for our comprehensive sexuality education program, Our Whole Lives.

-Our senior high group (YRUU) will meet on Sunday afternoons from 12:15-1:30 on the southwest side of Summit House.   We’ll begin the new church year with a special ritual and firepit on September 19.

Everyone needs to be registered to participate.

This Sunday September 12 is a special day—our annual Water Communion service.  Please join in Community Worship via Zoom and then come to the Edgewood Lane side of church for our “drive by” time from 12:30-1:30 to add your water to the common bowl.  This lovely ritual symbolizes our interconnection with each other and to the web of life.  Click this link to read more about the Unitarian Universalist Water Communion service: https://www.uua.org/worship/holidays/water-communion

There will be lots of music in this Sunday’s service as well as the chance for your family to engage with the sharing of Joys and Sorrows by adding what your family wants to share in the chat box during worship. We will also offer a blessing to Rev. Alex and wish her well in her future endeavors.

Rev. Linda and I will be waiting to greet you at the “drive by” on Edgewood Lane from 12:30-1:30 this Sunday.  We want to see you and hear the story behind the water you are adding to our common bowl.

Please don’t hesitate to be in touch with any questions or concerns.

With anticipation,

Rev. Leia
