How is Our Church Funded?

A pledge is a paper or online card we submit with the amount of financial support our household commits to providing the congregation in the following year.

As a congregation, we use our financial resources to provide spiritual development, promote UU values in the wider community, be good employers, and care for our facilities. We use our financial resources to grow adults and children with open minds, helping hands, and loving hearts, living the principles of our liberal religious faith.

Every year the finance committee calculates the church budget to plan how much money the church can spend. The budget is based on a count of the money the pledging members have indicated they will give. That’s why each member’s pledge on record is so important. Our pledges fund the Unitarian Universalist Charlottesville community and mission and filling out our pledge cards lets the bookkeepers know how much they have to work with.

Making the decision to financially support our church is a personal and spiritual path.

* what brings you here,
* what keeps you coming back,
* the commitments both personal and spiritual we are all held to here,
* and the spiritual practice that is giving joyfully.

Thank you for joining us.
