December Focus. Living Day to Day – Our Pandemic Spiritual Practice

We are in the season of holiday events and very special worship services. That brings us joy! But we are also in a time of uncertainty, with occasional surges in local Delta variant Covid cases, and the unknown impact of the Omicron variant. That can cause us anxiety, and means our plans may change from week to week.

We have been learning, over and over in the past 21 months, that making plans is a frustrating and impossible effort. Since the spring, every time we saw the rates of new Covid cases falling, and thought UUCVille might be opening up to having more people in person in our sanctuary – within weeks, our plans have had to change.

Let us all take deep breaths, and realize that from week to week, we will not know how many people can be together in our sanctuary. This is stressful for many of us, not knowing. But I invite us all to use this time as an opening to live in the present moment, appreciating what is in the here and now, and not fretting over the way things might be in the future. Please watch our weekly emails and updates on this website to learn what we are able to do each week and how you can participate.

With mindfulness, patience, and deep breathing, may we let go of worrying about the future and find joy in the present moment which is given us. –Rev. Linda
