A Look Back on a Historic Year ❤️

March 8, 2020 was the last time we gathered in our beloved sanctuary. As we look forward to being together again, let us make a commitment to support our congregation for the upcoming year.

We have done good things to get through this historic time together:

We created a digital fellowship with Zoom services every week, including live sermons and music, a video choir, and a growing congregation.

We welcomed Rev. Linda Olson-Peebles as our interim minister.

We moved Faith Development online with vibrant offerings: a home summer program for all ages, year-round weekly YRUU meetings, sexuality education for our 7th & 8th graders, and a variety of online adult faith development courses.

We ordained Rev. Leia Durland-Jones as Minister of Faith Development.

We celebrated the holidays with a drive-by Winter Solstice lantern festival, a wreath-making party, and a virtual service with an amazing video nativity made by UU families.

We expanded our digital ministry to include a Youtube channel and a new Soul Matters newsletter.

We continued to give to others, raising over $30,000 in Social Action Collections and over $5,000 for holiday gifts to Greer Elementary School families.

We supported our Food Pantry and Soup Kitchen as they served the community.

We voted to choose a new name for our congregation.

We helped provide overnight shelter to men and women through PACEM.

We built a phone tree check-in system to care for those who aren’t online.

We held weddings and funerals as well as welcomed new babies and new members.

We renovated the sanctuary, replaced the boiler system and made much-needed repairs, thanks to Glenn Short’s bequest.

We cared for our grounds with a reinvigorated Grounds Committee and weekly work parties.

We gathered in Covenant Groups and deepened our connections online.

We set up listening circles, watched the election together, and stayed connected, even when we were apart.

We supported and sustained each other throughout this pandemic year, continuing our work with our congregation, at home and in our communities.

Thank you!
