Board of Trustees January 24, 2024 Meeting Highlights

The Board met on January 24, 2024 via zoom.

The Building Use Task Force evaluates and recommends the measures to lower our risk of COVID.  At this time, it appears that the number of cases is actually declining, and we do not need to reinstitute mandatory masking.  Masks will still be available for anyone who needs one.  For more information about COVID click on the link on our home page for FAQs. The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Charlottesville has a zero tolerance for antisemitism, hate speech and discrimination.  X (previously known as Twitter) has removed safeguards against these kinds of posts and sometimes seems to actively promote them. This is not consistent with UU values. As a result, the Communications Committee recommended closing our X account.  The Board agreed and voted unanimously to close the account.

Kay Frazier reviewed the budget calendar, assumptions, values, and priorities.  The first draft of the budget is in the works and should be completed this week.

The Strategic Planning Task Force has been very busy, meeting weekly.  They are now ready to go to the congregation on Sunday, Jan 28th to discuss how the long-range plan is grounded in our mission statement.  They are looking for congregational input regarding what you think we should be prioritizing, and what actions you would like to see.   Once the Task Force has input from the congregation they will distill and develop high-level long-range plans and then bring those back to the congregation.

We celebrate the 11 new members who signed the book on Saturday!  Our membership is now 331.
