Sacred Tree Walk, Sunday, April 25

Reserve your space now for a long-awaited outing on campus with UU friends!

Join former UU Charlottesville Eco-Heroes and the current Environmental Action Group for a Sacred Tree Walk through our Green Sanctuary Arboretum to celebrate Earth Day on Sunday, April 25.

Ten years ago, we identified special trees on our grounds, including four large, ancient oaks and others that were planted in remembrance of UUs. We created a pamphlet, map, and tour, and dedicated our Arboretum as a final project towards accreditation as a Green Sanctuary.

We know you will be delighted to learn about our amazing variety of trees and see your friends in small groups for guided walks beginning at 12:30 pm in front of the church.

Tours will be offered every half hour for groups of 6 or 7, with the last tour at 3:00 pm. Covid precautions of masks and social distancing will be observed.

You will also see how a group of volunteers has amazingly cleaned up our grounds and created an “Adopt a Spot” program for volunteer gardeners. Learn as well about a proposed expansion of our vegetable gardens to decrease food insecurity and injustice in our area and teach regenerative gardening techniques to capture carbon and adapt to climate changes.
