All good things come to a close and the submission period for providing mealtime graces is over. For the last three months, we have had a soulful experience of receiving, reading, enjoying, contemplating and compiling mealtime graces and heartfelt words of gratitude from so many of you!
The next step is bringing together your written words into permanent form—a congregation creation—a book of thanks. UUCville’s “Words of Thanks” will be published and available for purchase in April. Watch for the date!

Submission Deadline Extended to Jan 31
We have changed the deadline for submissions due to requests to extend more time for submitting mealtime graces and to encourage and honor the “creative process” of some of you!
You are invited to help write a book!
Yes, that’s right, UUCville is going to publish a book—Words of Thanks. We aim to produce an original book containing heartfelt and cherished mealtime blessings that are unique to our community. We know that many (our families included) start meals with a word of thanks. For some of us it is an occasional grace and for others of us it is a regular occurrence. We think the book will be wonderful addition to our faith practices.
We need assistance — we need your contributions — without you, there can be no book!
We ask you to submit your original or favorite grace. You can use the online submission form below or download the PDF copy here. A hard copy of the form can be picked up at the Edgewood Lane and social hall entrances and also in the church pews. The form can be returned in the purple boxes in the Social Hall or the hallway at the Edgewood entrance.
The deadline for submissions is January 31, 2024.
The plan is to accept your graces (yes, please send more than one if you’d like) beginning now to January 31. The planned publication date is April 1, 2024. Questions? Please contact us at words@uucharlottesville.org
