Welcoming New Board Members, Thanking Outgoing Members

We welcome incoming Board Members Pam McIntire, Kay Frazier, Jim Gorham, Haley Owens.

And we express our deep gratitude to outgoing members, President Lorie Craddock, Treasurer Stan Walker, and Member At Large Liberty Powers.

We also welcome new Nominating Committee members Jude Bias, Marcia Brecker and Danny Gray and Personnel Committee members Bev Ryan and Steve Brecker.

We thank all of you for the work you do for our community.

PRESIDENT (2YR Term)

Pam McIntire has been a member of our congregation for 28 years. She has been a teacher and advisor in RE classes for all these years. In the last 15 years or so she has focused on youth programming, teaching OWL, Challenge and YRUU. Pam has been on the board for the last 1 1⁄2 years and was the chair of the Task Force to Explore Ordaining Leia and a member of the search committee for an interim minister and currently on the interim team. Pam loves our congregation and believes in the good we do for each other and the world. In the last year, she has been heartened in the way we have come together to support each other in the pandemic. She enjoys being on the board and working together with people who don’t always agree, but work together with respect and appreciation. She would like to be the board president to help continue the work of financial responsibility, transparency, connection and healing that we have done in the last year.

TREASURER (2YR Term)

Kay Frazier has been a member of the church since 2016. She is currently involved in numerous activities such as volunteer coordinator, UUsed Bazaar Co-Chair, Pride Alliance point and more Kay is retired from many years of service in local government. In that capacity, she developed and oversaw budgets and finances for a large department in Charlottesville and then Lynchburg. The budgets included operations, capital plans and projects, grants, giving programs, revenue-generating budgets for facility rentals and recreation programs, and management of historical tax credits. She is honored to be considered for the position of Treasurer as it allows her to use her work experience in the service of our congregation. She has a strong belief that financial stability is a foundational pillar in upholding the mission and values of the congregation.

BOARD AT LARGE (3YR Term)

Jim Gorham A member since 2017, Jim has participated in a variety of UU congregational activities, including teaching in RE, serving on a Soup Kitchen team, member of the Personnel Committee, and is currently serving out the remaining one year of an at-large position on the Board of Trustees. Jim was quite involved in this year’s Annual Pledge Drive, heading up the Data Team and serving on the Communications Team. He would like to continue to serve as an at-large member of the BOT.
Charlottesville Unitarian Universalists – 2021-22 Candidates BOARD AT LARGE (3YR Term)

Hayley Owens has been a part of the Charlottesville Unitarian Universalist community since she was in middle school, participating in RE through high school with fond memories from OWL, YRUU, and the Appalachian Service Project. Since Sunday services went virtual she has served as a Worship Weaver, helping to create meaningful experiences for the congregation. She has also served on the New Name Taskforce. Hayley is interested in serving on the Board to help create the multigenerational spiritual community that we dream of and to understand with more depth how our congregation operates. She values the democratic process and growing closer as an adult to some of her former mentors and adult supporters.

NOMINATING COMMITTEE (2 year terms)

Jude Bias officially joined the church in 2016. I’ve assisted at events including Elder Dinner, Family Pumpkin Carving, Holiday Wreath Making, Cville Pride Festival, and PACEM. I volunteered with our Food Pantry, the Pride Alliance, and social hour kitchen helper. Currently, I serve on the Committee on Ministry (COM), Aesthetics, Gardens & Grounds and the UUsed Bazaar. I look forward to the opportunity to meet with and get to know even more members. It’s through our participation, interests, and talents that our community is the vibrant, engaging, and caring space we all love.

Marcia Brecker has been a member of the Charlottesville UU for four years and has served in the following capacity: Greeters, Ushers, Youth Mentor, Yard Sale, Clean Up days and currently Membership. She enjoys giving back and working more closely with fellow UU’ers for the greater good. Already Serving as Fill in – Term ends 2022

Danny Gray has been a member of our congregation for 5 years. He served as Pledge Drive Coordinator last year, Host of Social Hour Refreshments, and RE Teacher Volunteer. He would like to continue serving this wonderful community in meeting our common goals.

PERSONNEL COMMITTEE (3 year terms)

Bev Ryan has been an active member of our UU congregation for 25 years. I came to TJMC in search of a community in which I could raise my 2 children. I served on the RE Committee and the Youth Committee for over 10 yrs. During this time, I learned some of what it meant to be a UU. I was on the personnel committee from 2005-2010. Most recently I have been active as a greeter, member of the Covenant Group Steering Committee, Covenant group member, member of the Community Life Council, co-chair of Yard Sale, and a member of the Interim Ministry Team. This past 3 years on personnel have been personally fulfilling to me. I believe that having these experiences will enable me to make a difference on the Personnel Committee for the next three years.

Steve Brecker has been a member for four years and is part of the men’s group. Steve has recently retired from full time work and has the time now to share his varied experience in the work world in area of business management and marketing, as well as owning multiple small businesses over the years.
