Dear Parents,
Happy Summer! I hope you and your family are finding time for rest and renewal.
Even as we enjoy the gifts of summer, it is time to prepare for the upcoming year of growth and learning at UUCville! I am excited about the opportunities for us to be together as we strengthen our connections and help each other live our UU values out loud, every day.
A UU tagline in recent years has been “Now is no time for a casual faith.” I couldn’t agree more! With attacks on the lives of children and families due to bias, discrimination, misinformation, and fear it is more important than ever that we use our time together at church well. We need to help each other understand what it means to be a Unitarian Universalist and how to live our faith and values boldly.
We do this by gathering on Sunday mornings and
- Creating safe and nurturing spaces for our children to share their own joys and sorrows and helping them listen compassionately to the joys and sorrows of others.
- Learning about how to show up and engage in the world as anti-racists and how to be welcoming of those whose lived experiences and self-expression is different from our own.
- Cultivating spaces to explore, ask important questions, wonder about issues of ultimate concern (like what happens when we die? What about God? Why do bad things happen? How do I know what to believe?)
- Helping each other grow as we embrace our own imperfection and humanness.
- Understanding our role and place in the wider community and our call to help make the world better for us all.
- Celebrating the seasons and holy days together as well as rites of passage.
- Developing spiritual practices that see us through the good times and the challenging times alike.
We are so glad that you and your family are part of our congregation. We ask that you please register for church school year TODAY so that we can plan and prepare for the coming year.

Our program relies on volunteers. Please indicate on your registration form the ways you would like to participate. I am happy to speak with you more about volunteer opportunities and to answer any questions you may have about our religious education program.
