Home Energy Use – Part 4

How’s your plan for home energy reduction coming? Whether you’ve consulted professionals through an energy audit or talked with friends, family or neighbors for mutual support, your journey toward lowering your energy burden will be easier if shared with others. That’s why Community Climate Collaborative (C3) has a Home Energy Challenge program where you and 5-10 of your friends, neighbors, coworkers, or family can have fun while helping one another move forward. Learn when to turn off lights and electronics for maximum benefit. This really pays off.

Install smart lighting controls. Upgrade to WiFi-controlled smart lighting, timers, or other lighting options and save up to 30% of lighting energy.

Set your thermostat to a comfortable 68°F in the winter and 75-78°F in the summer and save 5-10% a year on heating or cooling while reducing carbon emissions and air pollution.
