Home Energy Use – Part 1

According to the EPA, the economic sectors producing the largest amounts of greenhouse gas are electricity and heat production (25%), agriculture, forestry, and other land use (24%), industry (21%), and transportation (14%). We therefore begin with home energy use.

Have a Home Energy Audit Done – This is such a large category that you might want to have a professional energy audit done to help you identify ways to save energy and money while improving the comfort of your home.

Dominion Residential Home Energy Assessment Program— Pre-qualified contractors perform a comprehensive, whole house energy audit. You will receive recommendations and a report detailing possible energy-saving home improvements. Rebates are available. During the audit the contractor may also install measures like LED bulbs, water heater pipe insulation, showerheads, and aerators.
