As we continue our quest to lower home energy use with actions that might require more money, please remember that issues 4-6 of this newsletter dealt with several programs that can help you with funding for home energy projects you wish to undertake. Today’s Tips:

Replace single-pane windows with double-pane windows and reduce heating and cooling costs by up to 20% or more.

Install a smart thermostat and save up to 15% on heating and cooling.

Upgrade your refrigerator/freezer. Depending on when your refrigerator was manufactured, you could save up to $200 a year or more by replacing it with a new, energy-efficient model. Remember to recycle your old refrigerator!

Maintain and insulate your central heat ducts. You may be losing 20-30% of your energy through your heat ducts. Maintaining them will also improve your home’s air quality.
