IMPACT’s Nehemiah Action is on March 25th from 6:30 to 8pm. Online, we’ll gather with over 1000 people from 25 congregations to press local leaders for COMMITMENTS to change.

ONE   We’re asking County officials to provide dedicated funding towards the construction of new affordable housing. The pandemic has made the problem worse.

TWO   We’re asking City and County schools to provide full-workday after-school care options for preschool-aged children. Our racial achievement gap begins with unequal access to child care.

These are not “concerns” for our neighbors, they are CRISES. Many local people are struggling desperately to maintain their housing due to financial impacts of the pandemic. And parents who lack full-day childcare (which “head-starts” education) can’t return to work or take new jobs.

WHAT CAN IMPACT DO?
A lot! From previous Nehemiah Actions have come, for example:

• • the Women’s Treatment Center at Moore’s Creek
  • a CNA training program run by PVCC and UVa Medical Center
  • expanded bus services
  • new access to free or low-cost dental care

WHY SHOULD I ZOOM IN ON MARCH 25th?
Because attendance is the GREATEST IMPACT we can have collectively on local decision makers. They count heads. The media notices and reports. And these issues that affect so many people who are struggling extra hard right now, get heard.

PLEASE, UUCVILLE, SHOW UP! Come in your pajamas, come in your kitchen, come with your pet, but COME. This is how ALL OF US can commit to justice and make a real IMPACT.
