Dear Friends,
We are all still trying to learn how to navigate our lives during this pandemic. That we had to close the Church buildings for the time being has been especially difficult for a number of us, removing a source of comfort and community that we usually rely on in stressful times.
However, our staff is working harder than ever now. They are all finding new and different ways to maintain our sense of community even though we can’t meet in person.
Sean has arranged access to online meetings for Church groups, and is running tutorials on how use this resource.
Leia has been meeting with the youth online since the first weekend the Church was closed.
Alex has been coordinating our worship with other nearby UU churches.
Caroline has been navigating the drastic changes necessary in her job during this time, and doing so excellently.
Scott is providing the musical support for Children’s worship.
That’s all just the tip of the iceberg. We would be much less united without all of their efforts.
Even though the Church buildings are closed for now, our costs are not actually reduced by much. In fact, the loss of rental revenue alone is greater than any savings we might realize in lower utility costs. The vast majority of our costs are, and always have been, staff pay.
A number of you have been continuing to to send in your pledges and other donations even while we are closed, and for that I thank you.I would like to urge all of you to please continue donating to TJMC during this stressful time. The work of the Church is ongoing, most especially during this pandemic, and we would be unable to continue without all of your support.
