November 22. Community Worship: “Bread Communion — Healing Through Sharing”

with Revs. Linda Olson Peebles and Leia Durland-Jones.

As we approach a Thanksgiving that may be different from others we know, due to worry about getting together during the pandemic – our congregation will invite young and old to gather on-line for a celebration.  This is the annual Touchstone Service of sharing bread which we will do by sending in photos of ourselves breaking bread.  See the announcement in this email for how to submit your photo.  Let us together make it special!

Send a photo!

This year, since we can’t be together to break bread as we usually do for our pre-Thanksgiving touchstone multigenerational worship, we are inviting everyone to send in a photo of your family’s favorite bread.  We’ll use all the images we receive by Friday November 20 at 5PM to create a slide show that will be part of Sunday’s Community Worship at 11AM, Sunday November 22. Our different images of bread will help represent the unity within our diversity. You’re invited to send in a photo of yourself/your family making bread or eating bread or of relatives breaking bread. Or, simply send in an image of bread that represents your ethnic heritage or beloved family traditions. Send your images to office@uucharlottesville.org

Would you like to light the chalice for community worship? Great! Everyone is welcome to serve as the chalice lighter. Sign up for a Sunday here. You will be contacted with instructions on how to record a video of your self/family/household lighting the chalice for our weekly worship service.

We would love to have you light the chalice!
