This is the third report from the Committee on Ministry on the progress we have made on Goal II of our Long Range Plan, Nurturing heart, mind, body and spirit.
The second report on the progress we made covered Goal I in our Long Range Plan, Cultivating a safe and welcoming place for all, https://uucharlottesville.org/report-from-the-committee-on-the-ministry-com-december-2025/. The first report described the progress on the Preamble of the plan https://uucharlottesville.org/report-from-the-committee-on-the-ministry-com-october-2025/.
Section II of the Long Range Plan describes the ways we aspire to nurture heart, mind, body, and spirit for all ages and to recognize diverse needs and experiences in our congregation.
You see our adherence to our plan in the priorities and values in so much of the work of the church:
- Carenet meals that deliver love in the form of a nourishing meal
- individual pastoral care
- classes, workshops, retreats, training for all ages
- multigenerational services and social events
- child care, parents’ group
- worship, music, and support of activities that embrace diverse and nontraditional spiritual paths
- gatherings for fun and friendship
Our plan calls us to expand further. We are counting on the recent survey to help us strengthen our ongoing initiatives and gauge our capacity for new work, including:
- Expanding the Carenet model to link people who share love with their skill–like changing a smoke alarm battery, or providing a ride to an appointment–for another congregant
- Strengthening the Labyrinth Ministry
- Expanding support for families
- Expanding offerings for spiritual/physical healing
- Establishing a multigenerational Fun and Friendship Ministry
- Establishing an Elder Ministry that will center the needs of congregational elders
