Centrally located in Charlottesville, the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Charlottesville sits on the highest point in the city, in close proximity to the Downtown area and the University of Virginia.
We offer:
• Rental spaces for life celebrations, concerts, events, classes, and meetings.
• A unique and special place for a wedding, memorial service, or that special ceremony to affirm life’s journey.
• The option to host large events and smaller, more intimate gatherings.
• Many spaces are equipped for hybrid services and meetings, with technology for Zooming and streaming.
• Free high-speed Wi-Fi is available throughout our buildings.
• Parking for 55 vehicles with additional limited on-street parking.

SANCTUARY
The UUCville Sanctuary is where the heart of our congregation lives, offering a classic design that is serene and restorative. The sanctuary’s 24-foot-high ceilings, open floorplan, and natural light bring a sense of grandeur to formal events without being ostentatious for less formal gatherings.
Every month a local artist exhibits their work on the walls of the sanctuary, creating an ambiance that is always fresh and new. Seating up to 200 people, the Sanctuary is a great place for small weddings, memorial services, intimate concerts, and recitals. Known locally for its superior acoustics the sanctuary is sought after by musicians looking for a recording space or performance area. The grand piano is available for rent and is frequently tuned and maintained.
With recent upgrades, the sanctuary can meet many technology needs. Multiple microphones, quality surround-sound speakers, and a ceiling-mounted projector enable any kind of audio/visual media you want for your event. Directional cameras and streaming capabilities are available for recording and live streaming events. Please ask us about hiring an AV Tech to help run your event.
SOCIAL HALL
Accommodating up to 100, the Social Hall is perfect for receptions, dinners, and large meetings. Located adjacent to the kitchen, both spaces can be rented together. The Social Hall is convenient to the outdoor spaces that include a small plaza, labyrinth, yard areas perfect for large or small tents, playground, and sitting areas. The Social Hall can be configured with 16, 8-foot tables for a sit-down dinner; as a classroom or meeting room. Technologies are available in this space for hybrid meetings, and a free Wi-Fi high-speed connection is available.
KITCHEN
The spacious kitchen, with a commercial sink, dishwasher, refrigerator, and oven/stove, has plenty of countertops and workspace for the final prep, warming, and serving of food. The kitchen is located adjacent to the Social Hall and is convenient to renters as a warming kitchen.
PARLOR
For a more intimate gathering, the Parlor is the perfect space. Recently refurbished the Parlor is a step back in time to the congregation’s early days, with tall windows, upright piano, and classic décor. Furnished with sofas and chairs the room accommodates 14 people, seated. Located near the Sanctuary, the Parlor serves as an intimate family gathering place for memorial services and wedding parties preparing for the ceremony.
CLASSROOM SPACES
A wide variety of classroom spaces are available to rent, with a capacity of 10-40. Classroom space is available in both the main building and Summit House. Summit House offers both small classroom spaces and salon-style rooms furnished for more comfortable, informal meetings.
Lower Hall
Located in the main building the three available rooms offer versatility for meetings, classes, and social gatherings. Rooms 1 and 2 can be combined into a space for large meetings or offer the flexibility to be divided into two spaces. Room 1 may also be used as a nursery. Room 3 is a smaller, more intimate space for a break-out room or small meeting. The lower hall is fully accessible and can be reached via an elevator or stairs.
GROUNDS
With almost two acres of grounds, there are many options for outdoor gatherings, both large and small. Majestic oaks offer shade while the open lawn space allows plenty of room for outdoor activities. Small tents are ideal for the space adjacent to the Social Hall, and the Summit House side yard is the place for larger gatherings. The grounds also include a small parking lot off Rugby Road and a larger parking for 55 vehicles on Edgewood Lane.
