John C Anderson
Few activities consume me more than art. I enjoy learning from others and admiring their work. Art styles and techniques are so different, and it’s this variety that makes the pursuit of art so enjoyable.
When I begin to paint, I have an end-result in mind, and almost never complete exactly what I had planned. Maybe that is one of the keys to success, being flexible with each work and allowing the painting itself to have a say in the final result. From my experience, art is a forever study that is never fully learned or finished.
Painting is a calming and humbling experience, one that brings me contentment and gratitude. My joy in art is derived from a brush stroke that works exactly as planned… a cast shadow that complements the subject perfectly… a mixed value that achieves the harmony intended… an unplanned outcome encountered when creating art.
I am an artist who has lived in Illinois, Georgia and Virginia. My main interests are acrylic landscape painting, impressionism, portraits and abstract.
Special thanks to all my friends who recently prayed for my medical recovery, allowing me to continue painting.
I hope you enjoy this exhibit. To comment about specific works, please contact me through email or text. I look forward to hearing from you!
God’s richest blessings to you!

Abstract Monoprints using Oils by Jackie LaPierre
As long as I can remember I have been interested in ART. I have experimented with oils, acrylics, watercolors, pastels, crayons, colored pencils…you get the point, right!? I was initially introduced to the printing process my senior year in high school doing metal plate etching. I had a blast! Fast forward to 1987 in CA where I saw a monoprinting class offered at UCSF Extension. I signed up right away and couldn’t get enough. In monoprinting the image is painted on a plate then paper is placed on top and run through the printing press. I love the freedom and element of surprise that comes with this process. I went in on Saturdays and cranked out print after print. The artworks in this show are the result of those many Saturdays. They have been put away all this time. It’s my pleasure to have them hanging at UUCC then hopefully in someone’s home. I hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoyed creating them.
