The Board of Trustees met this past Wednesday evening on zoom.
The Board of Trustees voted to extend Rev. Tim’s contract for another year, and he graciously accepted. A letter was received regarding The Caring Circle of 8 and the procedure for the Edith Good Birthday Bouquet that is shared with the decade birthdays from 70 on. An email was received with a link that long-term care is outside of the realm of the average person, and wondering how the church could play a role and be aware of the issue. The Board and Rev. Tim will thoughtfully consider what we may be able to do to help.
The Board received updates on the selection of task force members for Goal 1- Cottage conversations are completed. There was very active participation. There is a lot of valuable and authentic insight that was gathered from many people. The task force will meet and determine how they will take this information and move forward toward the mission. There is work to be done in the coming weeks, but we are well on track. The Board and Taskforce are very pleased and encouraged that there were 16 Cottage Conversations with around 120 people or more that attended.
The Stewardship Steering Committee is currently focused on the pledge drive. Getting near the end and it is going very well. The number of new pledgers is encouraging! The pledge drive has been a really positive experience this year and everyone has been really receptive. It is greatly appreciated! Planned giving and capital planning are also being looked at. Stay tuned for the Service Fair in September- Stewardship through giving of time and talent.
We reviewed the reports and there sure is a lot going on in this busy congregation. There are a lot of fun events to look forward to in the coming calendar year! The video of Hayley interviewing Kay and Beverly was very appreciated and lends to the transparency theme. The Connie Cheetham Award Committee are accepting nominations if anyone has any nominations, please bring them in. Gratitude to Rev. Tim and Rev. Leia as well as the committees that participate in giving feedback for the upcoming budget. April 16th will be the Sign Dedication, Celebration of the Congregation’s 80th Birthday, and the wrapping up of the Stewardship campaign!
Rev. Leia commented on how lovely it was to be at Impact’s Nehemiah Action last night and that she got to participate in the closing prayer. She also appreciated all the congregants that showed up. Rev. Tim and his wife enjoyed attending their first Action as well! The congregation has done well with the mask requirements everyone has been accepting and respectful and it has been wonderful. Nominating committee has been very busy and in the process of getting a slate to present soon.
General Assembly is right around the corner and the list of people that are attending is growing so we will certainly have good representation.
Board minutes will be posted soon if you would like to read more detailed information.
