July/August Art Show: Sara Gondwe

An award-winning, mixed media artist, Gondwe enjoys the freedom of combining mediums, found objects, and experimenting with melted crayons, nail polish, etc.  Scraping bits of crayons onto canvas, wood, glass or metal, the iron becomes her paintbrush.  She slides, tips, lays it down flat, blending the colors — creating a unique design with bold colors.  Fabric paint is applied to outline and enhance the creative process and complete the abstract work of art.  Paintings in the “Zebra Tree” and “Fish” series are her favorites.  The Zebra Tree dancing, marching, being silly or looking beautiful in the sunset with the mountains in the background or the fish leaping for joy!  Her goal is to bring smiles to faces as one views her art. Each viewer’s perception of the art is as unique as Gondwe’s technique.

Medium for all paintings:  Melted crayons (iron), Acrylics (and sometimes nail polish or plastic flowers).
