Get Grounded: Adopt A Spot

Join in service with other congregants to create and maintain our sacred grounds! Perhaps there is a small piece of our UU grounds that is special to you or an area you would like to see improved. There is an array of “spots” to adopt, from the very small to a larger landscaped area. Gardening experience is not required! A Gardens and Grounds Committee advisor will be glad to offer advice and direction.

 Your commitment is simple:

  • Adopt your area for a minimum of six months, with optional renewals.
  • Visit your area on a regular basis to keep it weeded, pruned and tidy.
  • Work to remove or control invasive plants in your area.
  • Participate with other volunteers in seasonal work parties for leaf removal and other joint efforts.
  • If you wish to add plants to your area, just let the Gardening and Grounds Committee Chair know of your intent. No invasive plants are allowed (a list can be provided) and native species are encouraged. Need assistance in plant choices? An advisor from the Gardens and Grounds Committee can assist you.

Currently, there are several spots up for adoption. This is a wonderful service opportunity for those seeking alone time or for families and groups. Your service will be appreciated by so many!
