During the month of February we will be contemplating the Soul Matters theme “Widening the Circle.” As we look to a future that includes gradually emerging from the Covid nightmare and then beginning a new era of developmental ministry, your Board of Trustees wants the congregation to imagine how to be more welcoming and inclusive to more people. This is the calling of Unitarian Universalism and the great need of our world: to help our circles of care widen with love for all the diversity of identity and experience that makes up humankind. Our worship services (see Month of Sundays ) will celebrate the ways we can widen the circle, and Covenant Groups and other small groups consider the questions of what it means to us personally to widen the circle of community.
We are all invited to consider the deeply meaningful reality as expressed by the poet Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer: “we belong to the grand communion… we are the dust, the dust that hopes… the dust that dances in the light with all other dust… that makes the world.”
