Ever wake up and wonder: “what the heck was that dream all about?”
If you are interested in exploring your dreams, I have a Dream Group that meets the 1st & 3rd Tuesdays from 6:30 – 8:30 PM at Summit House. Our approach to dream work is Jungian. Jung’s understanding of the Psyche and Dream Process was: The source of our dreaming is the unconscious. The unconscious seeks dialogue with the conscious self. One of the agents or means by which this dialogue takes place are dreams. Only the dreamer can decide the meaning of her/his dream, but in our discussion of one another’s dreams – after asking various questions about the dream – we use the “If this were my dream…” approach. We have found the book: Dream Language: Self-Understanding through Imagery and Color by Robert J. Hoss and Dream Work by Jeremy Taylor (a UU minister) to be very helpful. For an excellent book on the history of dreams from the ancient world to today see: Our Dreaming Mind by Robert L. Van de Castle, PhD (former professor at UVA). If interested in joining our group please contact Sallie Kate Park.
