
November 23-December 14 UUCville’s Giving Tree
We partner with the Family Support Team at Greer Elementary to provide support for families who otherwise go without during the holiday season. Our Giving Tree also supports those within our own congregation with tight budgets. Simply choose a tag from the Giving Tree and purchase a gift card that will be shared with someone in need. If you would like to be a recipient of our church’s Giving Tree, please contact Rev. Leia. Gift cards will be collected Sunday, December 14.
November 30-December 21 Holiday Crafters
Artists and Crafters are welcome to sell their work from the Sunday after Thanksgiving (11/30) to the Sunday before Christmas (12/21). Crafters can set up a table in the Social Hall with work for sale after the service. Interested? Contact Elizabeth at art@uucharlottesville.org.
December 13 All-Church Holiday Party
On Saturday, December 13 from 2:00-4:30 PM, everyone is welcome to join in holiday crafts including salt dough ornaments, candle decorating, origami, luminaria making, pinecone decoration, and more. There will also be a spread of fresh greens to make wreaths and table centerpieces to take home. We decorate the church’s Christmas tree, and the Treasure Chest is available for shopping. This event is not to be missed and fun for all ages!

December 14 Giving Tree Multigenerational Worship Service
This Sunday at 11:00 AM join your church family as we celebrate our annual multigenerational Giving Tree Service. Donations of gift cards in amy amount will be gratefully received and gifted to the Family Support Team at Greer Elementary School. Gift cards help families whose budgets are stretched thin, especially during the holiday season. Gift cards will also be gifted to families in our own congregation whose budgets are tight.
December 19 Yule Ritual

December 21 A Celebration of Yule Multigenerational Worship Service
At 11:00 AM join your church family as we celebrate the longest night and the gifts of the solstice season. The choir will sing.
Those who are able are invite to bring perishable and non-perishable foods as well as cleaning supplies and place them in the sanctuary on the chancel at the 11 AM service. Anyone who would like is invited to stay after the service and take items home. Rev. Tim will also have grocery gift cards available. Please see him if you would like one.
December 21 Outdoor Solstice Lantern Walk
On Sunday, December 21, join your UUCville family and friends at 4:30-6 PM for our Solstice Lantern Walk. Bring your own lanterns and lights (flame or battery operated) for this festive event to celebrate the returning of the light. We will walk the trail around pond behind the Hilton Garden Inn on 250 East, near the Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital.
December 24, Christmas Eve Services 4:30 & 7 PM
Interactive Nativity 4:30
Join Rev. Leia for this joy-filled service that is our interactive retelling of the Christmas story. Come ready to jump right in and play the part of one of the characters in this timeless tale of wonder, mystery, and love. Donations of new mittens, gloves, socks, and hats will be received for those in need. The offering will go to the Minister’s Discretionary fund. At the end of the service we will proceed to the front portico and search the skies for Santa and his sleigh! Please bring cookies for the reception following the service.
Candlelight Christmas Eve Service 7 PM
Rev. Tim Temerson leads a Christmas service to which all ages are invited. Holiday music from the choir, candle lighting, and a homily from Rev. Tim. The offering will go to the Minister’s Discretionary fund. Childcare will not be provided as out screened childcare providers are not available. January 1 New Year’s Day Retreat 1-4 PM
Start the new year with contemplation, reflection, exploration, and community. Our smaller indoor labyrinth will be available for walking in Lower Hall 2. There will be opportunities for meditation, expressive arts, journaling, yoga, and movement in Lower Hall 1 and 3. Light refreshments will be served. If you have never walked a labyrinth before there will be friendly people to offer you guidance. All ages are welcome.
