Brief Report on the October Board Meeting

The Board of Trustees met Wednesday, October 27th at 6:30pm for our monthly meeting. At this meeting,

  • we heard congregants concerns during our open community time,
  • approved the thorough work that the personnel committee has done to update staff benefits and contracts,
  • discussed the gift and grant policies that the finance committee has carefully revised,
  • and checked in on the results of the Listening Circles and how they are informing the Developmental Minister Search. Thank you to all who participated in these Listening Circles!

For our new business:

  • we are beginning to learn more about steps we can take to address the concerns about Facebook as a social media platform for our congregation due to its unethical qualities;
  • the board is starting to reflect and create our goals for the year; and learned about a new outreach ministry called Refugee Welcome that we want to encourage you to be a part of! Our congregation has the opportunity to sponsor a refugee family through the IRC. There will be opportunities for direct mentorship, assistance, and financial support to help this family feel secure and thrive in America. Please stay tuned for ways you can support!

Our next UU C’ville board meeting will be Wednesday, December 8th. As always, all are welcome to join and share concerns or ideas that they’d like to lift up to the Board.
