I enjoy creating art and sharing it with others. The paintings in this show span several years of work. Most are images drawn from nature, but also include my recent images of umbrellas.

I enjoy the physical aspect of creating art, and I am as concerned about the surfaces as I am about the image. The paintings displayed here are oil paintings, either on canvas or on panels, watercolors, and pencil, ink, and charcoal sketches

Most of my inspiration comes from nature. I love to be outdoors, although I don’t like to paint outdoors. Sometimes I will make a few quick pencil or watercolor sketches, but mostly I use photography to record the subject, and will work from these photos when in the studio.

The umbrella paintings, done over the past couple of years, were a deviation for me. I was able to use props in my studio, to control the lighting, and to take my time. I worked on the color schemes carefully, finally using colors from the ones used on the ’57 Chevys.

I drew a lot of umbrellas during this time, and I have many of these here for sale. Some are quick sketches, and some are more involved studies. All are framed and ready to hang.
