Board Vice president: 2-year term: John Griffith 2026-2028

I am interested in serving on the UUCville Board of Trustees to support UUCville’s mission and operation to our members and community. I was on the board of a non-profit a few years ago and can draw on that experience. I am impressed with UUCville as an organization for spiritual connection and social good and would love to serve UUCville in building on these strengths.

Our family was drawn to Charlottesville in 2019 by the community and environment; we discovered UUCville right before the pandemic. Before this, we attended Follen UU Church in Lexington Massachusetts. I was looking for a spiritual home for my daughter and myself and was attracted by the many amazing UUs I have known. My daughter attended RE and performed in the choir and annual operetta. I served as an usher, chair of the Communications Committee during some major technology roll-outs, and as an OWL teacher. As a family, we attended church retreats.

At UUCville, my daughter has been attending RE and I have had the privilege of accompanying her Neighboring Faiths class on visits to experience other local religious institutions. I have been a co-leader of the UUCville Parents Group.

Board Secretary: Second 2-year term: Tammy Wilt 2026-2028

I have been a member of UUCville for past four years and have served as Board Secretary for the last 2. It has been very fulfilling to be able to give back to the church. I have been involved in the UUCville Spiritual Book Club for the past four years and served on the Long Term Strategic Planning committee.

I have held several positions within the Charlottesville Area Assoc of Realtors and the CAAR Foundation.

At large Board member: 3-year term: Corretta Powers 2026-2029

Coretta Jane Powers is a Sophomore at Charlottesville High School. She’s been attending UU Cville with her family since she was four years old. She enjoys competitive theatre, running, art, and making music.

At large Board Member: 3-year term: Meg Dunham 2026-2029

I signed the Membership book at UUCville in early 2021 out on my back deck.
I have been a Unitarian Universalist for about 36 years, initially a member of the First UU Society of Burlington VT where I taught OWL for 5th and 6th graders and RE classes. UUCville has filled my soul in so many ways. I am privileged to be co-chair of the Pastoral Care Team with Patty Wallens, an IMPACT team leader and a volunteer preschool teacher for Sin Barreras one morning a week.

I was raised in the United Church of Christ, my father being a minister in that denomination. I considered being ordained in the UCC to serve as a chaplain and attended Andover Newton Theological Seminary and the Pacific School of Religion after majoring in Religion and Sociology at West Virginia Wesleyan College. While in seminary, I took two units of Clinical Pastoral Education which informed and inspired my work as an emergency and later central intake family services worker and supervisor for the State of Vermont. I retired after 34 years in that field just last year, working remotely for four years after moving to Lake Monticello.

Being a member of this congregation is central to who I am now. I am regularly moved by the love and the hope I see in action here and that gives me strength and hope in return.
I chose to move to this area, specifically because of UUCville. It is important to me to live in a community where I can freely express my spiritual, religious and ethical values.
Other ways I feed my soul are through easy hiking, kayaking and bicycling, walking with my dog, learning Spanish and getting together with friends for games and conversation and laughter. I enjoying visiting my son and his wife in Wyoming where they live as well as in Peru where her family lives.

At Large Board Member: remainder of 3 year term: Ashley Cooley 2025-2027

I live in Charlottesville with my husband Benjamin and our 10-year-old son Sam. I joined UU in 2024 after moving from Tennessee. I originally came to Charlottesville years ago for law school, and I now practice disability law part-time. I also work seasonally with PACEM. I spend my free time playing with my son, hiking, and with community activism.

Personnel Committee: 3-year term: Susan Erno 2026-2029

I have been a regular at UUCC for many years. My involvement has included ushering, children’s religious education, food distribution at the Haven, and the pastoral care team. I have always been impressed by the dedication, compassion and commitment of UUCville members.

My career focus was adult education, all facets – from volunteer to teacher to administrator. Since retirement in 2017, Jim and I have wintered in Florida. We were particularly happy to miss this Charlottesville winter.

Personnel Committee: 3-year term: Sharon Baiocco 2026-2029

I have been a UU all my life, but have been a member of this congregation since 2005, and before that in Sarasota, Fl., where I served as a worship weaver. In 2005 “An Inconvenient Truth” and the construction around me here led me to co-chair the new Environmental Action Committee, which began my Earth Ministry and culminated in our Green Sanctuary award in 2012. Since then I have served as Social Justice Chair, on the Pledge Drive, on the Facilities Task Force that led to restoration of Summit House and our sanctuary basement, and as an RE mentor. In 2021 I became very active with our Afghan family resettlement, and I rejoined the UU Cville Choir, where I serve informally as the volunteer coordinator. I am pleased to be considered for membership on the Personnel Committee. Before retiring, I was an academic dean and professor, as well as a faculty union chapter president of the AAUP, American Association of University Professors. I am thrilled to see our congregation thrive!

Nominating Committee: 2-year term: Sammy McGlammery 2026-2028

During the two and a half years as a member of this UU congregation I have taught for one year RE Grades 1 thru 3 Moral Tales and was a team leader for Impact. During year two I have continued with Impact, joined the choir, helped with the sale of olive oil and spice with the Palestinian Support Committee and have joined the team on Tuesdays for Sin Barreras Pre-School.

Previously after working in banking and commercial insurance to aid my husband, Keith, secure his law degree I continued to work outside the home until our son, Reid, was born. In the following years when asked my occupation, I jokingly replied “professional volunteer” doing many fundraisers and as a officer of many volunteer organizations such our son’s school parent groups (in the Richardson Public Schools and St. Mark’s School of Texas), Wisconsin Alumni Club and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Dallas.

While living in DC I was a docent at two museums (Tudor Place and Lincoln Cottage). One of my favorite projects was writing a tour for Tudor Place given during the four year sesquicentennial of the Civil War.

Nominating Committee: 2-year term: Jed Devine 2026-2028

I have been a member of UU Cville since 2018 along with my wife, Laura, and son, Trey, We have loved the religious education classes and impact driven community of UU. I work in tech sales and live here in Charlottesville. When I’m not at my desk, you can usually find me behind a drum kit or enjoying the quiet of a local trail in the woods.
