Ministry for the Earth Committee has purchased carbon offset credits.

As part of our mission to help make the planet more sustainable, the Ministry for the Earth Committee has purchased carbon offset credits.

A carbon offset is a way to balance out unavoidable greenhouse gas emissions by funding projects that reduce or remove the same amount of carbon from the atmosphere elsewhere, like planting trees or investing in renewable energy. Essentially, a company or individual buys credits representing a metric ton of CO2 equivalent (CO2e) avoided or removed, allowing them to claim a reduction in their own carbon footprint by supporting emissions-reducing actions elsewhere.

The credits we have purchased directly support two Alaskan Tribal Nations and were developed in partnership with them. These projects do more than just “offset” carbon emissions.  Both projects protect native wildlife and plantlife, as well as the watersheds in which they are located, resulting in cleaner water for drinking and recreation. For more information on these projects, go to Northern Cheyenne Forest Carbon Project and Kootznoowoo Forestry Project.
