Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Charlottesville’s interfaith justice ministry, IMPACT, begins its annual cycle with House meetings starting in September. House meetings are ways that we build relationships in our congregation and uncover personal stories that move us to work for justice. This culminates in our large Nehemiah Action on March 24, 2026 where we will bring people from our congregation to join with hundreds of others to bring about positive change for our community on those issues.
This year, IMPACT members will select a third issue that we want to address. We have made some good strides on Affordable Housing, Transit, and the Women’s Treatment Center, which has reopened with plans for women to be able to bring two children under 5 to stay in the Center starting in September. The third issue will be one that we select that has rising interest and urgency in the Charlottesville/Albemarle community.
This year’s House meetings will be hosted by UU Charlottesville’s Team Leaders: Kelsey Cowger, Meg Dunham, Susan Karlson, and Rosemary Rehm (who can all be reached at impact@uucharlottesville.org).
Here are upcoming meeting dates where you can learn more about IMPACT:
- Kelsey Cowger: Sept. 29 at Random Row, 6:30-8 pm; Oct. 5 at UU Cville right after church
- Meg Dunham: Sept. 13 at Lake Monticello/Fluvanna, 3-4:30 pm
- Susan Karlson & Rosemary Rehm: Sept. 14 at UU Cville, 12:30-2 pm;
