ANNOUNCING THE 2021 PLEDGE DRIVE 

I AM LINDA OLSON PEEBLES – So Honored to be your Interim Lead Minister, and excited to offer you encouragement for this year’s Pledge Drive which invites you to BE THE LIGHT.

Now is the time.  Even though the pandemic has kept us apart physically for a year now, you have kept alive the light of your spirits and your commitment to this community. There is now a sense of hope growing, a renewed confidence of this congregation’s strength. Ministers, leaders, and members are saying “Things ARE getting better!”  With renewed hope, UUCharlottesville can feel stronger within and as a partner with neighbors and the wider community. We can see the light shining the promise that hard times can be met with love and shared energy.

Now is the time.  UUCville is putting its financial house in order.  This moment in your recovery is pivotal, and it’s up to EACH of you. The congregation needs to fund more generously than ever this growing capacity for positive ministry.  Now is the time to increase the monetary support to sustain all the new health and power of the congregation.  Let’s not lose this moment.

Now is the time.  If we are brave and bold enough to do it.  As the poet Amanda Gorman wrote in her Inauguration poem “The Hill We Climb”:

We step out of the shade, aflame and unafraid,….
For there is always light, if only we’re brave enough to see it.
If only we’re brave enough to be it.
No one else can make this happen at UUCville – it is up to each member, each family, to invest in the growing return of the light.  To BE the light.  The time is here to realize that all of us need all of us to make it.  Give as generously as you can.  This is urgent and this is important. This is the time.
