Antiracism is an opportunity for deep self awareness and spiritual growth. Debby Norton will share some thoughts about her path and welcome her mentor on the journey, activist and entrepreneur Chanda McGuffin of Rise Organization in Waynesboro.
Debby Norton teaches elementary Montessori school in Charlottesville at Mountaintop Montessori. She holds a Masters in Education and is also a licensed 5 Rhythms™Movement Meditation teacher. She teaches 5 Rhythms Zoom classes weekly, and is also on the faculty at Front Porch, where she teaches beginning ukulele and classes for young children grounded in the Orff-Shulwerk music education method, which she is also trained in. She is honored to serve as Worship Weaver at TJMCUU.
Chanda McGuffin was born and raised in Waynesboro, VA where she still resides with her 14 year old son, Shakil and mother, Carolyn. The bulk of her professional career after graduating from James Madison was in banking as a branch manager and assist Vice President. She has earned her MBA and Masters of Education.
Aside from all of that, her and her business partner Sharon Fitz formed the social justice organization, RISE from their individual lifelong work in social justice and advocacy in and for the Black community. Truly RISE is them fufilling their call on their lives. Through grace, they teach, they reach and they change the world for every human being that they touch. #weliveanotherday2RISE
